HOW TO MAKE A BEQUEST TO VZVRF

First, be sure to make a valid will.
A valid Will ensures that your estate will be distributed to the beneficiaries of your choice. To be sure that your Will is valid and enforceable under the law, we strongly recommend that you consult with an attorney in making your Will.

The basic form for a bequest to the VZV Research Foundation is as follows:
I give and bequeath (cash amount or description of property) to the VZV Research Foundation, Inc., New York, New York, for its general purposes. (Be sure to use the Foundation's legal name: VZV Research Foundation, Inc.)

DIFFERENT KINDS OF BEQUESTS

By means of a bequest, you can give many different kinds of property in several different ways.

Property may include: cash, securities, real estate, or personal property such as jewelry or valuable artifacts. Different, suggested forms of bequests follow, but be sure to consult your attorney.

Specific Bequests
You can give a specific sum of money or a specific piece of property to the Foundation:

I give and bequeath the sum of (amount) to the VZV Research Foundation, Inc., New York, New York, for its general purposes.

Residuary Bequests
You can give the Foundation all or part of the property remaining in your estate after the payment of debts, taxes, expenses and bequests to other beneficiaries.

or,
I give, devise and bequeath to the VZV Research Foundation, Inc., New York, New York, for its general purposes, (percentage) of the residue of my estate.

Bequests In Trust
You can make a gift which provides benefits to the Foundation and other beneficiaries. Bequests in trust should be drafted by an experienced attorney to ensure that the Foundation's interest will be deductible from your estate for estate tax purposes.

Life Insurance And Pension Benefits
In addition to the ability to make a bequest of any property you own in your own name, you may have other valuable rights. These include the right to designate the beneficiary of a life insurance policy or a pension plan. Such designations generally can only be exercised by signing a separate beneficiary designation form.

TAX BENEFITS OF A BEQUEST

Bequests to the Foundation are fully deductible for Federal and State estate tax purposes. It is therefore possible to support the Foundation with dollars that would otherwise be paid to the Federal or State government in estate taxes.
